My Story – Discovering Colic in Babies

Hi, my name is Sarah Vickers. If you are visiting this site, my guess is that your beautiful baby is suffering from Colic, just like my baby Kyle. There is nothing like the continuous screaming cries of pain coming out of your new baby to rip your heart out, is there?

I know because I have been down this road and it is awful. As a parent, all you want to do is take the pain away and make it all better, but it seems as if there is nothing you can do to help. Isn’t it amazing that we cannot even go to the store and buy a simple toy without a manual and instructions on how to assemble and use it. Yet, we can go to the hospital, have a baby, and be sent on our way the very next day with nothing but discharge papers and our new baby. We are given the option to take classes before and even after the baby is born, but nobody really prepares us for what to do if our baby screams in pain and agony from chronic Colic.

Well, I have good news. I found an awesome e-book that really helped me understand Colic in babies, the treatments for Colic and some options for comforting my baby and getting us through those Colic fits. This e-book changed our lives and it can change yours too! I promise you, this e-book is worth its weight in gold. I just wish I would’ve discovered it before the tireless sleepless nights, hours on end of screaming and what seemed like millions of phone calls to the pediatrician.

Who am I?

Let me tell you a little bit about my baby, Kyle, and our experience with Colic. I am sure you can relate. Happily married at the age of 25, my husband and I found out that we were expecting our 1st little prince. After a rough pregnancy with a few complications, Kyle was born 5 weeks early. Despite his premature birth, Kyle was born a very happy and healthy 6 lb baby. We took Kyle home and he caught onto nursing very quickly. He was and still is a great eater. About 5 weeks after we got home, the projectile vomiting and screaming fits started. Every time Kyle nursed he would spit up huge amounts and often times projectile vomit. He seemed to be eating large quantities at a time, but had stopped gaining much weight. Needless to say, I was concerned.

The Doctors were of no help

I picked up the phone and called the pediatrician, as any concerned mother would. She suggested that we make an appointment to see the lactation consultant, so we did. The lactation consultant did some weight tests to make sure he was getting an adequate amount of food when he has nursing. The consultant discovered that he was getting several ounces. She suggested not letting him eat so long because she thought he might be getting to much food, which was causing the spitting up, vomiting and screaming. I took her advice, yet the screaming, fits, spitting up and vomiting continued. At my wits end at 3am, after 7 straight hours of screaming, I called my mom crying my eyes out because I did not know what to do. She suggested I do some research online regarding Colic in babies, and possible treatments and symptom relief. I told her I talked to the pediatrician and the lactation consultant, and I was told it probably wasn’t Baby Colic. I told her that the lactation consultant said he was overeating and that was giving him the tummy problems. I told her that the lactation consultant told me that babies who are nursed don’t typically get Colic.

Was it really Baby Colic?

My mother laughed and told me that she was told the same thing when I was a baby, 25 years ago. I found out that as an infant I also suffered from Colic in babies. She was told that I did not have Colic because she nursed me. Ten months later when she could not take it any more, she took me into a new doctor and I started one of my Colic fits. The doctor looked at her and told her I had Colic. My mother broke into tears and explained to the new doctor that she was told that was not possible because I was nursed. The new doctor told her that nursing does not prevent Colic. He gave her some treatment options, they chose one, and my mom said that just three days later I was a new baby.

The solution to Colic in Babies

Crying hysterically, I told my mom I couldn’t take this anymore. She hopped in her car and came over at 3am to take care of Kyle so I could get some sleep. When she walked in the door and heard him screaming, she knew immediately that it was Colic. She told me to get some sleep while she took care of Kyle. While I was sleeping, my mom did some internet research and found this awesome e-book. I was very skeptical about the e-book initially, but we both figured there was nothing to loose. I made the purchase and this book has been a true blessing. I got the book immediately, and my mother hung out for a while so I could read it. It explained the definition of Colic in Babies, what I could do to comfort Kyle, and how to go about finding the best treatment for him.

I highly recommend the book.  It takes only a few seconds to download and it helped me tremendously when dealing with my babies colic.
